WIKI / HOW THINGS WORK
Crime and heat
How crimes work, what decides success, and why heat matters.
Crimes are on The Street. Each district offers a different list, and the list changes every few days.
Doing a crime
Each crime costs nerve. Your chance depends on the stats the crime uses. The readiness label (Ghost, Prepared, Nervy, Exposed…) tells you roughly how it'll go.
Outcomes range from a critical success, through success and partial, to failure or getting caught (prison). Some crimes stop halfway and ask you to choose what to do.
Heat
Every attempt adds heat, even failures. The hotter you are, the more likely a failure ends in prison. Heat goes up to 100 and fades by 15 an hour while you lie low.
Chaining the big jobs back to back is how people end up in a cell. Mix in quieter work.
Notoriety
Successful crimes build your notoriety. Higher bands open bigger jobs, but make you easier to recognise.
